Creative Bookseller Outreach


When an author is as generous as they are talented, that calls for creative thinking. In anticipation of his debut novel release, former indie-bookstore worker Jeffrey Stayton wanted to give back to those he knows first-hand work so hard on a daily basis to help authors and sell books. JKS created a Cheers for the Bookstore cash grant contest that was promoted through each regional independent bookseller listserve. Jeff made things a little easier financially for six lucky stores over the holidays. Jeff has since received invitations from across the country to appear at local indie stores in promotion of THIS SIDE OF THE RIVER.

Trade industry publications praised Jeff for his good deeds, too – Shelf Awareness and Poets & Writers.

Jeffrey Stayton, whose debut novel, This Side of the River comes out in February, awarded grants of $250 to six independent bookstores through his “Cheer for the Bookstores” competition.”
